Wanting to fulfill his need for speed at a grander level, Buisson made the jump in 2002 to the Grand Am Cup Series; in his rookie season he captured 3 wins and multiple top 5 finishes, and an impressive 3rd in points, finishing just 25 points short of the driver's championship. Over the next three years he had to divide his time between finishing college, getting married, starting a career, and racing. Buisson competed in 9 races, led 5 and only finished out of the top 10 twice.
In 2007 Buisson was at it full time again, but in 12 races his car only finished 4 times. Five of those races the car had a mechanical failure when in contention for the win. He only qualified his car 2 times in 2007 (each car has 2 drivers, one qualifies and the other finishes the race), one of which was the pole position. Even with strong showings, the lack of results was not the kick-start Buisson had hoped for and for 2008 he could not land a full time ride.
It is a potential carrer ender when a driver experiences the bad luck Buisson had in 2007, but he has gone back to the amature level hoping to prove himself all over again. Will he be able to work his way back to the professional ranks? Only time and potential sponsors can tell.
