This is going to be a quick one, I need to get a good night sleep. I have been feeling a little under the weather. So, after qualifying we are looking good. My co-driver this weekend Aaron Polvoledo is starting the race on the front row in second place. We were not able to do the first day of testing, on Thursday, and started the weekend off behind the eight ball. The car has not really been handling as well as we would have liked, because we thought we could share setup information between the cars. The 76 ran the practice day and got alot of usefull information out of it, but they have a different' spring/swaybar package than is available to us right now. So, we are not really benefiting from the things they learned in testing.
We had been running around on old used up tires the whole time, trying to get the car to handle well, not worrying about lap times. So, as Aaron went into qualifying we put new tires and wondered how quick the car would be. We quickly found out, that the car is capable of putting down a couple of fast laps. But, the problem is that we are really eating up tires with our current setup. So, even though we are starting the race in a good position, we are a little worried aobut how good our car will be on long green flag runs.
With one more practice session tomorrow morning we are trying some pretty radical things to see if we can make the car better on the long runs. If we can get the car better, we should have a shot at a podium. If not, I'll have to drop back a bit at the beginning of my stint and hope to have enough tire left at the end of the race to be able to make a run at the front.
The GS class had their race today and there were a suprising amount of yellows at the end of the race, which is our race plays out like that it would favor us. The Rolex DP cars also raced today, but I didn't get a chance to watch that race, so I don't know how that race played out. Anyway, right now we are hoping for not alot of green flag racing. But, you never know how things will play out.
