Well, here we are again. At the track, things are looking good. I have no memory of past races at this point, just trying to look forward. My co-driver Daniel Columbie is new for me this weekend, but I think we have potential for the race.
This Lime Rock track is very tricky; it's not a technical track at all. It is very short, we run 1 minute laps, but it is very high speed. The track is bumpy and very fast, not a good combination. A good setup is important here, and we don't really have it. We are just going to have to deal with the bumps and hope for the best. I think we have a good strategy, because our cars are not the quickest cars here we will need a good strategy to win. We don't really get enough time here to really figure out the setup, so we are just keeping what we have and tweak it. Instead of straying off to where we need to be, we are playing it conservative, so that we know we will have something to work with.
That may not make much sense, but we don't want to try a bunch of crazy stuff that doesn't work. If we do that we may never get anything we like. So, now we are starting with our Laguna setup and tweaking it as well as we can for this track. The problem is that Laguna is a very smooth track, and this place is like riding a mechanical bull. It really trashes you around in the car. This place takes alot of nerve, there are only 6 turns, the slowest we go is 60 mph (in the only left hand turn) and the fast turn onto the front straight has an apex speed of 95 mph. In case you're wondering that's fast to be going around a corner.
Long story short, we are optimistic for a podium finish here. Daniel is a good co-driver; he is a smart driver and will start the car. So, once again I have the responsibility to finish the race. As you can see I'm tired right now, this place really wears you out. All the bumps and temps in the car well over 110 degrees can take it's toll, so I'm off to get some sleep.
