Formula 3000
Formula 3000 (alternatively known as “Formula 3”) is a special class of sports car races which occupied the third place in the hierarchy of racing championships (after Formula 1 where you see a number of tarot card readings, and Formula 2). As a matter of fact, it was introduced for amateur racers who wish to get trained, have more practice and rise to Formula 2 and/or Formula 1 championships. It must be mentioned, that skilled racers who demonstrate the tendency to acquire skills rapidly and drive professionally may “skip” over the Formula 2 to Formula 1 races (as Ayrton Senna did).
Formula 3000 is held in various countries; there is no single world championships gathering participants, guests and mass media in one place. Every subject who wants to take part in championships is required to keep to strict rules as far as technical characteristics of racing vehicles are concerned. These are: 550 kg of entire vehicle weight; 1850 mm of wheels’ width; two-wheel drive; uniform steering wheel; mechanical transmission of six positions; engine capacity – 200-240 HP and others.
